Barn Hunt Basics - Instructor: Brenda Belmonte, CPDT-KA

Do you have a dog that LOVES to use his nose? Does your dog need to burn off some excess energy in a safe, controlled environment? Try our Barn Hunt Basics Class! What is “barn hunt”? Barn hunt is a “game” that dogs can play, based on the traditional roles of breeds specifically bred to hunt vermin. Dogs learn to recognize the scent of rats, build confidence through “hunting”, learn to use their nose in elevated situations, and learn to work scent through and around tunnels. Barn Hunt Basics is open to all dogs over 12 weeks of age! Our Barn Hunt Basics class will teach your dog the essential elements of barn hunt, while giving you a great way to learn about dog body language and how dogs use their noses! You do not need to touch any rats, but your dog will have FUN! Dogs should be comfortable being crated. Each dog will work at least twice per class. Class meets once weekly for four weeks. No Class on 9/3 or 9/10. Sorry, no make ups for missed classes unless class is canceled by the instructor.
